Man Stabs Girl To Death In Calabar Over Handset (Graphic photo)

Last Friday in Calabar, Cross River state, a young man, now on the run, stabbed a girl in her early twenties simply identified as Queen to death over a mobile phone at Nelson Mandela street by Target road, Calabar South LGA. CrossRiverWatch reliably gathered that a girl friend to the late Queen had collected Queen’s phone to help recharge the phone’s battery in her boyfriend’s place. Her boyfriend is however believed to have seen and like the phone, deciding to keep the phone. Sources say all entreaties to convince the alleged assailant now at large by his girl friend that the phone belongs to her girl friend proved abortive, causing the girl to call the late Queen to come over to her boyfriend’s house to demand for her phone. Ayo Fayose offers to ‘help’ Buhari choose minister

Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has asked PresidentMuhammadu Buhari to allow him nominate an indigene of the state into the Presidential cabinet.

Fayose made the comments in a statement released on Tuesday, June 2, 2015.

The governor also said that he had written Buhari a letter on the issue and was hopeful that his response would be favourable.

“I shall be happy to nominate a worthy and competent professional, who can always oblige Your Excellency and your cabinet the benefit of a second opinion in the serious business of governance,” Fayose wrote to Buhari according to Punch. Continue...

Two Housewives with cocaine in their private parts arrested at Lagos Airport

 

Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested two housewives for ingesting cocaine, packing some on their underwear and also inserting them in their private parts.
The two women were apprehended at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, while attempting to board a Qatar Airways flight to China.
In their statements,the women claimed that they smuggled cocaine because they were abandoned by their husbands.

A clash between members of two rival cult groups has left four dead in Obiakpu community of Ohaji/Egbema Council Area of Imo State.

According to a The Nation report, one of the victims of the violent clash was one Ike who was shot dead, an innocent passer-by.

Customers without BVN to be restricted from using accounts

Bank customers who have not registered for Bank Verification Numbers (BVN) might soon be prevented from using their accounts, in line with a Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) directive.

The CBN had earlier declared a June 31 deadline for all customers to register for the BVN.

As a result of this, some banks are said to be planning restrictions against unregistered customers, according to Leadership. Continue...

Drama as C’River gov locks out latecomers

There was mild drama at the Government House in Calabar on Monday as the new governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade, on his first official day in office locked out civil servants that had yet to resume for work at 8.10am.The governor, who resumed work at about 7.45am met an almost empty complex and directed the Head of Service, Mrs. Mary-Theresa Ikwen, to shut the gate to the Government House.

He also directed that henceforth, the gates to all Ministries, Department and Agencies, should be shut by 8.10am daily in order to curb lateness.

ABOMINATION!: 55-Year Yoruba man Jailed 90 Yrs In US For Fathering Six Children With Own Daughters

New Jersey (US) – An award-winning Nigerian music director, Aswad Ayinde, found guilty of fathering children with his daughters will spend the rest of his life in jail. According to Mail Online, Ayinde, 55, of Paterson, New Jersey, United States, was sentenced to 50 years in prison on Friday after being found guilty in the second of five expected trials in which he is accused of repeatedly raping his six daughters, resulting in six children being fathered.

Mr. Ayinde was found guilty in his latest trial of having intercourse with a daughters when she was as young as eight-years-old. The second sentence adds to the 40 year sentence Mr Ayinde received in a 2011 trial for sexually assaulting a separate daughter.

Police Uncovers Secret Den Where Fake Money Is Produced

The Oyo State Police Command has discovered a place in a remote village of Ibadan, where thousands of fake pounds, euros, dollars and other foreign currencies were being produced.

State Police Commissioner, Mohammed Katsina, said that the discovery was made by the command’s ambush squad in a village called Ojoku in Badeku, Ona-Ara LGA of the state. The police described the area as fast transforming to an abode for criminals, having earlier served as a kidnappers’ den.

Why President Buhari Has Not Moved Into Aso Rock

The head of President Muhammadu Buhari’s media team, Garba Shehu, on Sunday said Buhari had yet to move to the Presidential Villa, Abuja because his official residence was not ready for habitation.

Shehu, in an interview with Punch said workers were currently cleaning and refurbishing the President’s official residence. He said Buhari would not move in until that exercise was completed.

Shehu said, “As far as the President is concerned, the place (his official residence) is not ready yet. Workers are cleaning and refurbishing the place. Once the exercise is completed, the President will move in.” Continue...
