Appointments: We should be more interested in projects coming to S’east – Gov. Okorocha

                   

For the first time since the raging controversy over the appointments so far made by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Imo State Governor and Chairman, All Progressives Congress, (APC) Governors’ Forum, Rochas Okorocha has reacted stating that Buhari, as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces of the federal Republic of Nigeria, has the right to make appointments that would make him succeed and nobody should dictate for him who he should or should not appoint.

He rather urged the South-East to focus more on the development projects that come to the region instead of fixating on appointments.

The committees include:

1. Selection Committee to be headed by the Senate President.
2. Rules and Business Committee with Senator Babatunde Omoworare representing Ife central Senatorial District as Chairman
3. Ethics and Privileges Committee with Senator Samuel Anyanwu representing Imo East Senatorial District as Chairman
4. Ad-Commiittee on Publicity is to be headed by Senator Dino Melaye from Kogi East Senatorial District

Resume Work Now Or Be Sacked, Okorocha Tells Imo Workers

                    
Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has ordered the striking civil servants to resume work immediately or risk being summarily sacked.

The Governor read the rio act while addressing some youths, who paid him a solidarity visit at the Government House, Owerri.
While accusing the workers of reneging on the recent agreement it freely entered with the state government, Governor Okorocha also described the current strike as “illegal and would not be tolerated next time”. Continue...

Three men have been jailed after being convicted of running an animal brothel in Swansea, Wales.

The ring leaders, Adam Cofferty and John Cofferty and their father David Cofferty ran a ‘gentlemen’s club’ known as “The Ram Inn” in Grange Road, Swansea.

The brothers, 31 and 28 and father 52 admitted keeping an animal brothel between January 2011 and July 2015 and a jury took less than three hours to find them all guilty.

During their trial at Swansea Crown Court the jury heard they setup a website on the hidden “Deep Web” where people from all over the country could select the animal of their liking and book in for an appointment. Continue...

A 40-year-old Melbourne, Australia, woman who had a sexual relationship with her child's 12-year-old friend, spanning a period of five months, will spend at least six years in prison after she gave birth to the boy's child.

The woman who has been jailed on charges of child abuse, was said to be having unprotected sex with the boy at least once a week over the period.

Notorious kidnapper popularly known as Vampire paraded in Imo

The Imo state police command have arrested and paraded a notorious kidnapper identified as Henry Chibueze aka "Vampire". Vampire was arrested after a failed attempt by him and his gang members to kidnap judges of the Imo state tribunal who were lodged at Disney Hotels, along Onitsha Owerri Road recently.

According to reports, security operatives in the state who acted on a tip off, swooped on the gang members as they attempted to kidnap the judges. Man Who Beats Up Prostitute Gets 4 Months in Jail in Abuja

Abuja Zuba Upper Area court on Monday sentenced Uche Duru, 34, of no fixed address, to four months imprisonment for beating up a prostitute.

The presiding Judge, Mallam Aminu Sa'ad, gave judgement after Duru pleaded guilty to the one count charge of causing grievous body injury to the complainant.

Sa’ad, however, gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N10, 000 and an order to pay the sum of N22, 000 to the complainant as compensation. Continue...

Court Grants Ohakim N270m Bail For N270m Fraud

                         
A Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday granted a former Governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, bail in the sum of N270m.

Ohakim, who is being prosecuted for N270m fraud allegedly perpetrated in 2008, is to produce a surety resident in Abuja to guarantee the bail.
Justice Adeniyi Ademola, in his ruling on the bail application, filed by Ohakim, also ordered the prosecuting agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, ‎to submit the passport and other travel documents seized from the former governor to the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court. A Federal high court sitting in Kano has ordered that former governor of Jigawa state Sule Lamido and two of his sons, Aminu and Mustapha be remanded in Kano Prison till September 28th when their bail application will be heard.
