Twenty four players were counted as nominees with in-form Super Eagles players, Ahmed Musa and Vincent Enyeama making the list for the 2014 African player of the year award

Reigning player of the year, Yaya Toure who is also nominated in the FIFA player of the year list, will have the two Nigerians to contend with, and Asamoah Gyan, Emmanuel Adebayor, Gervinho and Stephanie Mbia amongst others
20 home based players are also nominated for the Continental African player of the year Ejike Uzoenyi being the only Nigerian in the list for the Glo CAF Awards which will take place on Thursday, 8 January 2015 in Lagos, Nigeria.
