Stampede: Three slump at Imo job recruitment exercise

Stampede: Three slump at Imo job recruitment exercise
No fewer than three persons collapsed Thursday following a stampede that marred the collection of civil service application forms at the state secretariat, Owerri.
Several others were reported to have sustained varying degrees of injuries in their bids to flee the scene, especially pregnant women and nursing mothers.
The exercise which started since Monday this week to end next week on Monday 24, has continued to record unprecedented number of jobless youths from various local government areas.
Our correspondent learnt that since Monday 17, November 2014, when the exercise started till date, it has been characterized with violence resulting in the breaking of windows, doors, chairs and tables among others, following protests of marginalization and favouritism.
One of the job seekers who got injured, Collins Iheme from Isu Local Government Area of Imo State, blamed the stampede on the government for lacking the organization to conduct a decent exercise.
