Students of the Moi University, Kenya, on Sunday confronted the Police after the body of their murdered female colleague, Charity Maina, was discovered near the institution.
Maina, a third year student in the school of Arts and Social sciences, was raped, strangled and her clothes torn off by the attackers.
Her corpse was found near the gate of the main campus.
Alleging lack of protection from the police, the students gathered in their thousand and attempted to stop the removal the late student's body. Continue...

They insisted that they would take it to the morgue using a college bus.
In the chaos that followed, the students burnt a police Land Cruiser that was to transport the body.
Hundreds of anti-riot police were called in to disperse the protesters.
They shot into the air and succeeded in taking the deceased's body to the Moi Teaching and Refferal Hospital mortuary.
A day after the altercation, calm is yet to return to the institution with the students vowing not to allow classes to resume until proper security measures are put in place.
On Monday morning, they blocked roads around the university, despite an appeal by the university’s Vice Chancellor Professor Richard Mibei.
Mbey, in a statement published in the Star, urged them to calm down and allow the murder to be investigated.
“We look forward to a speedy conclusion to the investigations so that the culprits are brought to book,” Mibei said.
A student leader who spoke to the Star, Rolex Riziki, said the police have failed to act despite past cases of insecurity.
“We have been asking the police to provide adequate security for us but nothing has been done. We have had many incidents of insecurity yet police do not act,” Riziki said.
Police say they have arrested two suspects.
Student Pulse gathered that a male student of the institution was found hanging dead just about a month ago.
