The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, generated about N8.1trillion between 2012 and May 2015, but paid only N4.3trillion to the federation account.

The balance of the oil money - about N3.8trillion - was withheld and spent by the Presidency and NNPC big boys unilaterally without approval or National Assembly appropriation.

Anambra state was in tension yesterday, following reports that about 47 Boko Haram suspects have been relocated to Ekwulobia Prisons in Aguata Local Government Area of the state, Vanguard reports.

Hundreds of youths took to the street over the weekend when the rumour first broke about the alleged relocation, leading to the closure of major markets in the state. It was gathered that prisons officials at the Ekwulobia Prisons did not shown any sign that new inmates were brought in.

However, findings shown that last night, 47 Boko Haram prisoners were brought to Ekwulobia prisons at mid-night of Sunday, June 28, under tight security.

It was observed that agitated people in different parts of the state were seen making telephone calls over this development.

Nigerians; See 3 Implications of Not Participating in BVN Registration Exercise

According to Ibrahim Muazu who is the director, corporate communications department, CentralBank of Nigeria, yesterday said the Bank Verification Number exercise, scheduled to end today, will not be extended.

According to him, without BVN one will still have access to his cash, he said.

He also listed the implications of not enrolling for the exercise.

1. Services/facilities (internet/mobile banking, loans etc) will have some restrictions
2. Transactions valued at N100,000,000.00 (One hundred million Naira) and above will only be allowed for customers with BVN
3. Loan applications will be rejected

APC insists on Deputy Senate President Ekweremadu's removal

APC says Deputy Senate president Ike Ekweremadu who is a member of PDP must be removed from office. Senator Ekweremadu who was also the deputy senate president in the last administration, was elected deputy senate president during the controversial senate leadership election on June 9th which produced Senator Bukola Saraki as Senate President.

A member of the ruling party who spoke on condition of anonymity with Punch, said Ekweremadu serving as deputy senate president will adversely affect President Buhari's administration.

BVN ‘Madness’ Bank Rents Chairs For Customers As They Attend To Them Outside

A lot of Nigerians have been rushing to their various banks in the last few days to get their Bank Verification Number before the registration closes tomorrow. A UBA branch in Abeokuta was however nice to its customers when many of them stormed the banking hall this morning to get their BVN numbers. The bank’s management made arrangements for chairs and a canopy for them to sit while they were being attended to outside the banking hall. But why do Nigerians like last minute rush?

A 17-year-old female Benin Republic national, Kwenume Ojo, is now in the hands of operatives of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly poisoning her husband, Jimoh Ojo, because she preferred her boyfriend.

According to reports, the incident happened in the Makoko area of the state, when Kwenume who was forced into marrying the 32-year-old Ojo, put the poison in a soft drink and forced it down his throat while he slept on the bed.

She reportedly got the poison from a relative of her boyfriend after she was forced to marry Jimoh who was said to have some mental issues which made it impossible for him to get a wife on his own and the marriage of convenience was arranged by both families. Continue...

18-yr-old girl burnt to death over boyfriend

An 18 year-old South African student, Boitumelo Dlamini, has been burnt to death for allegedly snatching a boyfriend from her rival, reports the Sowetan Live.

The body of the teenager was found in a field in Klipgat, North West, and her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend and three of her friends have been arrested for the crime.

Dlamini, a Grade 12 pupil at Elepsa Secondary School, strated dating the 24-year-old man Tokelo Makalepho, 24, from her village, six months ago but her dalliance with him was not taken lightly by his ex-girlfriend who felt she had snatched the man from her. Continue...

I won’t downsize or slash salaries, says Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has made it clear that his administration has no intention of sacking workers in the state. The governor also maintained that his government will also not resort slashing salaries.

The governor disclosed this to newsmen during an unscheduled visit to some of the parastatals and agencies in the state.

Okorocha, who disclosed that his administration is determined to sanitize the workforce in the state, frowned at the poor attitude of workers to their jobs, especially in the areas of lateness to work and absenteeism. Continue...

Turkish Airlines Staff Dies In Istanbul Due To Nigerian Mosquito Bite (Photo)

Turkish Airlines (THY) flight attendant Selda Durmaz has lost her life on Friday night in an Istanbul hospital as a result of a mosquito bite in Nigeria, while she was on duty.

Durmaz flew with THY to Nigeria's capital city of Lagos. When she returned back to Istanbul, she went to the hospital because of a persistent high fever. Twice she was diagnosed with the flu, according to allegations, but the third hospital diagnosed her with malaria.

Durmaz was later given medical treatment in Istanbul at a private hospital, but she lost her life on Friday night at around 2 a.m

A strange scenario played out in Ebonyi State over the weekend when a man, Onyema Orji, was forced to officially 'wed' his dead ex-wife so that he could claim his children from her family.

The incident which happened in Nwakpu community in Ikwo Local Government Area of the state, according to reports, was 'necessary' because Orji had divorced the woman known as Blessing, and she left with their children and later got married to another man.

After she died from a brief illness, Orji reportedly visited the family with items for her burial ceremony and to take home his children but was told by her family that for him to claim the children, he had to perform the traditional marriage rites on the late Blessing since he had not performed the rites when they were married, and to also enable him claim his kids.

Orji had no choice but to agree with the conditions so that he could his children home.

Policemen attached to the Owutu Police station have charged a middle age man, Ajisafe Solomon and his sister Ajayi Ayomide before an Ikorodu Magistrate court over allegation of wife battering and sodomy.

The accused were arraigned on a three count charge bordering on inflicting bodily harm and conspiracy to commit sodomy.

According to the police, the accused conspired and inflicted grave bodily harm on Solomon’s wife Opeyemi Amuda 25 by inserting a bottle of Turbor beer and pepper in the victim’s vagina which made her to run mad. Continue...

Oyo State Police Command is to rehabilitate the 11 kid robbers arrested in Ibadan, the state capital, on June 15, the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Katsina, said on Thursday.

Katsina, who disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan, added that the arrest of the kid robbers was part of initiatives by the command to ensure a crime-free environment in the state.

Katsina stated that some of the kid robbers, aged between 12 and 14, conspired and invaded a house around the Challenge Area of Ibadan, where they stole the sum of N11,000.

“Based on information, the Anti-Robbery Squad of the command was sent out immediately and they were surprised to see kids of 12 and 14 years of age coming out to make confessional statements,” he said. Continue...
