Eighteen ships laden with petroleum products and food items are waiting to berth at the Lagos ports.
This is contained in the daily “Shipping Position’’ made available to newsmen on Monday in Lagos by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
According to the document, nine ships will berth to discharge petroleum products like petrol, kerosene, base oil and diesel.
It said that nine other ships would discharge bulk rice, fresh fish, buck wheat and containers.
The document indicated that 62 ships were expected to arrive at the ports from November 17 to 30.
It noted that 23 of the expected ships would sail in with containers to be delivered at the APM Terminals, Apapa.
The document indicated that other expected ships would arrive with bulk rice, used vehicles, bulk malt, buck wheat and petroleum products.
It showed that more ships were expected to bring in crude palm oil, bulk cola, bulk fertiliser, ethanol and bulk clinker.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 21 ships are discharging buck wheat, bulk rice, bulk fertiliser, general cargo, bulk gypsium, bulk sugar, containers, petrol, aviation fuel and diesel at the ports.
