BREAKING: Explosion rocks political meeting in Yobe

A powerful blast suspected to be from an Improvised Explosive Device, IED, has rocked a political meeting in Potiskum Town of Yobe state.
The explosion occurred in front of the residence of a local politician, Sabo Garbu, in Kandahar area of the town.
A resident of Potiskum, Adamu Mohammed, informed RITY ONYI that Mr. Garbu, a former member of the House of Representatives, was holding a meeting with his associates when the bomb blast occurred.
“The house was full with PDP members holding meeting there. It just happened and it’s not far away from our house,” he said. Continue...

Mr. Mohammed said those who survived the blast ran away from the area in fear of second blast, and so it’s difficult to know the extent of damage or casualty.
Mr. Mohammed also said another suspected IED was sighted in the GSM market in Potiskum.
“Police bomb squad are already in the market trying to defuse the bomb found there when the blast in our area occurred,” Mr. Mohammed said.
The GSM market was the scene of a bomb blast last month that killed six people and injured many others.
Yobe is one of the states most affected by the Boko Haram insurgency.
