Crises rocking Enugu PDP Chapter Deepens, PDP Nat. Chair Snubs Gov. Sullivan

                  People democratic party
The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Dr. Adamu Mu’azu was said to have embarrass Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State yesterday as he kept him waiting outside his office for at least 5 hours without receiving him. The Governor was said to have left angrily when he couldn’t bare the disgrace again. More after the cut...

The governor arrived at the PDP national secretariat as early as 11.00 am, hoping to see the NWC or the national chairman, Dr. Ahmadu Mu’azu, but was neither able to see Mu’azu nor the NWC even after waiting for over five hours.
It was learnt the following the curious resignation of Engr. Vita Abba as state chairman last weekend, forced the governor, who had boasted to the national leadership of the party that “I don’t come here to visit anybody; I have never done that before”, to make a repeat visit.
Also, the disrespect shown by Governor Chime to President Goodluck Jonathan, PDP-NWC and other PDP chieftains who unsuccessfully intervened in the controversial “chicken impeachment” of the erstwhile deputy governor, Sunday Onyebuchi, made the PDP leadership snub Chime.
Impeachable sources told our reporters that the party had pleaded with Governor Chime to drop Onyebuchi’s impeachment but Chime would Have none of that.
It was further learnt that the crisis bedeviling the state chapter deepened following Chime’s insistence that Ekweremmadu should not return and also after the deputy chairman of the chapter, Elder David Aja rejected the appointment of the managing director of the Enugu State Housing Development Cooperation (ESHDC), Mr. Ikeje Asogwa, as acting chairman of Enugu PDP following the resignation of Engr. Abba.
Also gathered was the governor’s insistence that only his anointed aspirants would run in the 2015 general elections, excluding Senator Ayogu Eze, who is also eyeing the governorship seat and Ekweremmadu who is working hard to return to the Senate.
On Tuesday, Governor Chime brought Mr. Asogwa to the PDP to introduce him to the party leadership, but the controversial manner of Asogwa’s emergence made the NWC refuse to see them so as not to create the impression that Asogwa had been endorsed by the national body.
The embattled governor, who arrived Wadata Plaza with a retinue of stern-looking security operatives that harassed anyone who came near the governor’s official vehicle parked near the main entrance of the Wadata Plaza even as thousands of party supporters from different parts of the country, escorted their aspirants to pick or submit nomination forms.
The governor, sources said was politely led by the protocol personnel through the back door to the chairman’s waiting room on the third floor, where they waited endlessly without success at 4.05 pm when he left in anger.
The problems caused to the PDP immediately the Vita Abba-led SWC announced the endorsement of Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as PDP gubernatorial flagbearer in Enugu state, compelled the NWC to issue a statement annulling such pronouncements and banning subsequent endorsement by the state chapter.
Informed sources at the PDP disclosed that the national leadership of the party were uncomfortable with Chime’s disdain for the party’s leadership and non-respect to their directives which led to continued endorsements by several other organs of the party under his watch and the denial of revenue from prospective aspirants from Enugu state.
The sources further informed that the national leadership of the party would not endorse Asogwa except proper procedures were followed in his emergence.
