If you applied for a United States visa on or after June 9th, then you could likely suffer some delay in receiving an answer as a computer glitch has forced the State Department to suspend the issuance of US passports and visas at its overseas diplomatic missions.
The glitch hit one of the agency's computer databases leaving overseas embassies and consulates unable to print visas, regular passports and other travel documents.

According to the US Department of State website,
"We cannot bypass the legal requirements necessary to screen visa applicants before we issue visas for travel. As a result, there is a backlog of visas waiting to be processed."
They also added that while the issue was not specific to any particular country, citizenship document, or visa category, they were working as quickly as possible to resolve the issue and to clear the backlog.
Last July, the same database was taken down over the same technical glitch.
