Protesters drawn from across the 27 council areas of Imo state Monday shut down the Okigwe Road area of Owerri, the Imo State capital.
The angry protesters numbering over 1000 were protesting what they described as obvious irregularities in the conduct of the December 8, 2014 governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
They regretted the inconsistencies in the result of the exercise, which they said fell short of expectations as ‘figures were computed to favour a particular candidate and rob Senator Ifeanyi Araraume of his victory – the second time in eight years.’
