Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has accused the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Abdulmajid Ali of working for the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the state against other political parties including the All Progressives Congress, APC, adding that such glaring partiality does not reflect the federal colouration of the Nigeria police force. The governor who came up with the allegation while donating five Hilux buses to the Imo Police Command to encourage them to continue to combat crimes in the state said that it was shocking that the police in the state provided unparralled security for the Imo PDP before, during and days after their primaries, but could not do the same to APC and other political parties in the state that also carried out the same exercise.

Governior Okorocha noted that as governor in the state, he has never interfered in the operations of the security agencies in the state because of his firm believe that they were meant to protect the interest of all Nigerians irrespective of their political parties, adding that it becomes regrettable when some of such agencies begin to act in a manner that would give the impression that they are being partial. He said Imo people including the youths, market women, students, traders, artisans, taxi and Keke Napep operators would ever defend what is right in the state including protecting their votes in the 2015 election in the state, and appealed to federal institutions in the state to appreciate the fact they owe Nigerians their duties and not to any particular political party. The Imo governor also highly commended the Imo CP and entire police personnel in the state for fighting crimes in the state to a standstill, and specifically stated that the CP and all the ranks and file of the command in the state including the DPOs have been very wonderful, adding that the command has dealt a deadly blow on kidnapping, child trafficking, armed robbery and other crimes in the state and that the donation of the buses was to further encourage them. In his speech at the event the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ali said the police in the state under his command would not be partisan, but would only ensure a level playing ground for all including political parties, and added that the police in the state would ensure protection of lives and property during the 2015 election in the state. The Imo CP warned parents in the state to guard against their children and wards been recruited by politicians as thugs to cause trouble in the state during the election, assuring that the police would deal decisively with such elements when they are caught. He explained that the police in the state has fought crimes to zero point and said that would not have been possible without the cooperation of the Imo State Government.
