No fewer than 128 children have been found without guardians at camps set up for variousInternally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in Adamawa State, according to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
The Head of NEMA Special Ad-Hoc Committee on IDPs in Adamawa State, Alhaji Sa’ad Bello, who made the disclosure while speaking with journalists, said only seven of the children have been reunited with their parents. Continue...
“So far, we have reunited seven children with their relations with the help of the International Committee for Red Cross and Red Crescent," Bello reportedly said.
The children are among several persons fleeing the Boko Haram insurgency, North-East Nigeria, but it is unclear if the children's parents have been killed in terrorists’ invasions or they just lost their parents in the confusion that follows such attacks.
Bello however said efforts would be made to reunite the children with their parents.
